Wizard Punk: The encompassing project of Disaster Artist

Disaster Artist is more than a band, they approach art in a holistic way that lets you dig deeper into the story of most music.
Their upcoming release is a combination of an album and a graphic novel. While they can be consumed individually, they hold each other up and enhance the experience. The graphic novel gives the story clarity allowing the music to exist as something purely enjoyable as opposed to just a story telling mechanism.

The story they want to tell is something pretty uncommon in music: The story of two wizards. The music style and the art style lends itself perfectly to the idea of wizards (albeit a more modern wizard), so the fact that this was in the conversation from the very beginning of the project makes total sense. I would be remiss to not add pictures of the art the band makes, so you'll find that throughout this article.

Naturally a band like this has an equally weird fanbase, and I mean this in the most positive way. They attract artists, queer people, punks, and more often than not a combination of the three. The goal is to create a space for people to be themselves and from an outside perspective they certainly seem to have done that.
There is also the benefit of a thriving punk community in Philadelphia that welcomed them with open arms. Plus a history of being in the local music scene where they almost certainly gained a few fans.
As far as live music goes they take a similar approach to some more unique bands (think ho99o9) and have a completely different style live. When you stream their music you'll hear that it would be difficult to play live in a low budget way, with their blend of classic punk styles and hyperpop techniques. This adds a further layer of art to discover with these bands and I, for one, can't wait for the release of the new album and graphic novel.
