Maddie Cassidy is the very cool frontwoman of the band and we were lucky to chat with her about her and her band path to where they are now. We began by talking about how the band came to be. She had been musical her whole life but during the 2020 lockdown found the time to take music seriously. She released a charity EP donating all the proceeds, and from there began to gain traction and this resulted in an invite to play support for a sold out gig. This is the two week time span in which Maddie formed Sister Madds, and the last minute group that was pulled together makes for a completely changed vibe.
We talked about the band's input and she told us they contribute a much more punk vibe which you can definitely hear in their music. But even without the sound that the band contributes, Maddies lyrics are incredibly punk. She writes in a way that is reminiscent of Riot Girl music with feminist undertones to everything they play.
The band have a lot of work ahead of them with a full schedule of gigs, including being the final headliner for the King Tuts Summer Nights festival. They're in good company for their headline show, performing with Lemon Drink, Comfort Girl, and The Froobz. As well as touring Scotland, playing King Tuts, and playing the main stage at ButeFest, Madds told us they have new music in the works. This is definitely a band worth keeping an eye on because every new release is going to be something you'll want to hear.
