The Met Gala is no longer about the art

The Met Gala has traditionally been a space to celebrate art but with focus on celebrity growing each year most don't even know the purpose of the gala: to celebrate the latest collection in the Met museum.
Because of this the Gala has become an event for the upper class, the Versailles of the modern age and some are calling for a revolution.
This comparison was made stark in a move that would be called heavy handed in a work of fiction. Content creator @HaleyyBaylee posted a tiktok at the Met gala saying "let them eat cake." Which given the world we live in is flat out insensitive.
Not only is the use of food banks rising all over the world, but there is currently a forced famine happening in Palestine. Their crops have been burned, their food supply has been cut off, and even their supply of animal food, which they turned to after they had their own food taken away from them, has been cut off.
Haley was the first creator to face the guillotine with her following count dropping every day. But this has started a movement, creators who don't support Palestine are being cut out of people's lives. They may not have been smart enough or compassionate enough to care. But we have more in common with Palestinians than we do with anyone at the Met Gala so we will do our part.
